mParivahan
mParivahan is an official government application that allows users to access and manage vehicle and driving license information digitally. I redesigned the app with a focus on improving accessibility, streamlining navigation, and simplifying core user journeys like login, dashboard navigation, and service access.

Overview
A complete UX/UI overhaul of the official mParivahan mobile application, focusing on improving the user experience, simplifying complex authentication flows, and establishing a modern, trustworthy visual identity for a critical government platform.
My Role
End-to-End UX/UI Designer. My responsibilities spanned heuristic evaluation, Information Architecture (IA) redesign, high-fidelity prototyping, and creation of the modern visual design system.
The Challenge
While functional, the original application suffered from severe usability and information architecture flaws that undermined user confidence and efficiency. Users struggled with:
-
Confusing Authentication: A complex, multi-step login process that often led to abandonment.
-
Information Overload: An overloaded dashboard lacking visual hierarchy, making it impossible to quickly locate key vehicle documents.
-
Scattered Services: Deeply buried and scattered service access, requiring excessive navigation for common tasks.
The Discovery
My starting point was a Evaluation of the existing mParivahan application to identify core usability issues and pain points.
Poor Information Architecture (IA) and a severe Lack of Visual Hierarchy.
The design failed to prioritize critical information, leading to high cognitive load and user frustration, particularly when trying to access essential documents or services.

-
Multiple icons and dense text blocks.
-
Excessive, low-value information crowded the screen, leading to sensory overload.
Primary navigation inconsistent between screens.
-
Key services mixed with tertiary links.
-
All elements—critical document status, secondary links, and help info—were given equal visual weight.
Information Architecture
To address the scattered access and poor findability of services, I performed a complete redesign of the app's structure, focusing on chunking and simplification. The goal was to group services logically to meet the user's mental model, ensuring the most frequent tasks are instantly discoverable.

Impact
This simplification reduced decision fatigue, making the journey from opening the app to starting a service significantly more direct and intuitive. The new structure ensures core features are consistently accessible from the persistent bottom navigation bar.
Key Solutions & Design Decisions
Here, I detail the core improvements made across the application, moving from a complicated, text-heavy system to a clean, user-centric experience.
Simplified Authentication:
Building Trust with a Two-Step Login
The previous login process was complex, requiring multiple steps and excessive input fields, leading to high user abandonment and frustration before access was even granted.

The Dashboard: Resolving Information Overload
The original dashboard suffered from information overload, presenting all elements with equal visual weight and burying critical documents.
The new dashboard resolves this by introducing card-based layouts and a strong visual hierarchy. This allows users to quickly scan and identify crucial vehicle and license information. Furthermore, the persistent bottom navigation ensures critical actions (like adding a document or checking profile) are always one tap away, bypassing the need to navigate deep menus and significantly boosting user efficiency.

Service Discovery: Consistency and Clarity
Services were scattered and lacked consistent visual patterns, forcing users to rely on memory and trial-and-error to find the correct administrative task.

Services are now logically grouped under recognizable, high-level categories such as License, Vehicle, and Transport. The use of consistent iconography and uniform card designs establishes a clear visual language across the app. This consistency removes confusion and makes finding a specific service intuitive, rather than overwhelming, transforming the app into a reliable digital assistant.
User Profile
Simplified the profile layout by grouping related information, improving readability, and adding quick actions for RC & DL management. Introduced a cleaner navigation flow and consistent card designs for seamless access to key details.

Outcome
-
Reduce Cognitive Load by improving visual hierarchy and decluttering the interface.
-
Simplify Core Authentication from a complex multi-step process down to a streamlined 2-step mobile login flow.
-
Accelerate Task Completion by creating a modern, accessible interface with intuitive service grouping.
